Het Groninger Forum is een prestigieus, wat megalomaan project. Het betreft een gebouw dat vlakbij de Martinitoren verrijst. Uiteenlopende culturele instellingen zullen erin worden gehuisvest. Het is een ontwerp van NL Architecten uit 2006 en het zal in 2019 worden opgeleverd. Het vakblad De Bouwwereld van 9 januari 2008 verduidelijkt een en ander:´Een centrale leegte in het gebouw vormt het pompend hart van het instituut, dat de verschillende programma-onderdelen met elkaar verbindt. Het verticale atrium wordt in horizontale zin uitgebreid, waardoor een transparant gestapeld landschap ontstaat, waar verbanden kunnen worden gelegd tussen de verschillende informatiestromen en de bezoeker kan dwalen tussen de thematisch geprogrammeerde vloervelden.´

The Groningen Forum is a prestigious, almost megalomanic project. It is a building that is arising right next to the Martini Tower. Various cultural organisations will make it their home. It was designed by NL Architects in 2006 and will be finished in 2019. ´
The January 9, 2008 issue of trade journal 'Bouwwereld' explains the design: 'A central void in the building is the institute's pumping heart. Here the building's different functions will interconnect. The vertical atrium will have horizontal extensions, creating a transparant, stacked landscape which will stimulate the forming of connections between the different sources of information. The visitor will be able to wander across the different thematic floors.'
