De Pelsterstaat is een onopvallende straat in het centrum. Huisummer 12 is een pand met een bouwkundig verleden dat terug gaat tot de 17e eeuw. Ooit was het een smederij voor sporen. Deze werden aan de laars van de ruiter aangebracht om een paard subtiel te kunnen aansturen. Het gangetje links heeft dan ook de historische naam 'Spoormakersgang'.
The Pelstersraat is an inconspicous street in the centre of the city. Number 12 is a house with a construction history that goes back to the 17th century. In those days it was a smithy for horse spurs.The alley to the left of this house is eponymously named the Spoormakersgang, the alley of the spur-makers.
